SRQ Magazine Honors S-One's Vice President of IT With Local Philanthropic Hero Award
Janelle Piersoll Recognized as 2024 Corporate Good Hero
SARASOTA, Florida (January 29, 2025) – S-One Holdings Corporation, a global company headquartered in Sarasota with a focus on the digital imaging industry, proudly announces Janelle Piersoll, Vice President of IT, as the honoree of SRQ Magazine's 2024 Corporate Good Hero Award. The recognition is part of the publication's annual Local Philanthropic Hero Award program. A Corporate Good Hero represents a team member of a for-profit organization who has made giving back to the local region a strong part of their corporate culture.

“I feel like I’ve had a blessed life, and I like to give back to other people,” says Piersoll. She has been an S-One team member for over 13 years and has embraced community engagement, the heartbeat of the company’s culture.
“Between the food drives, stuffing backpacks, and mentoring students, it's awesome how much we give back to the community,” she added. Her volunteerism has consisted of mentoring students at a local elementary school and high school and at State College of Florida (SCF) Sarasota-Manatee. She is also involved with Little League, travel ball, and volunteering as a Parent Teacher Organization board member at Ashton Elementary School. “I've been able to do this because S-One empowers me to be able to do so. S-One encourages everyone within the company to step up and help our neighbors.”
Working in IT has empowered Janelle with deep knowledge of what it takes to be successful in this career path. She has shared her technical skills with local students through S-One’s mentorship partnership with SCF in developing local IT talent to meet the demand from area businesses. Janelle has volunteered with the program for two years.
“We’re struggling to find talent when we hire new people. So, I was inspired by this program to help local business needs,” Janelle stated.
She explains that when you start off your job in IT, it can be a scary thing. Computers can sometimes make people frustrated. With this thought in mind, she embraced the opportunity to give back to SCF college students who are interested in an IT career.
“Learn to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. You’re always learning. Coding is always changing. New technology is coming out, and we have to keep up with it so we’re always gaining knowledge.” She explained to students to lean on people who’ve been there. Janelle enjoys helping students find their way forward. “You’ll succeed as long as you have the drive.”
As part of the mentorship program, Janelle spoke to SCF students during their classes. Her presentation focused on what it takes to be interviewed and be hired in IT. Janelle also encouraged her IT team to serve as mentors with one-on-one time with the SCF Coding Academy students.
The mentoring program gives students a vision of what the IT workforce looks like from professionals who have worked in the industry for over 20 years. Mentorships elevate students’ software development skills and guide them as they move out of training and launch their job search.
“It’s huge being able to have someone in the industry to lean on and learn from. Students received the chance to share their ideas during the mentoring sessions, collaborate, and get questions answered from our IT team members.”
Janelle has conducted hundreds of interviews for S-One and presented interview tips to the college students during the SCF Coding Academy speakers’ series. She feels that bridging the gap of women employed in technology is also important. The mentoring program empowers students with confidence to make a fresh start and embraces individuals seeking a first-time job in IT or those wanting a career change.
