At today’s Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County’s 2014 Annual Meeting, S-One’s Art Lambert received the Clyde Nixon Business Leadership Award, presented by Allen Carlson, president, CEO and director of Sun Hydraulics Corporation.
“This year’s honoree for the Clyde Nixon Business Leadership Award is well-known for the successful, long-term growth of the company that he co-founded, but also for his caring and encouragement of his employees, his mentoring of other business leaders and his active community engagement,” Carlson said.
The annual award acknowledges a Sarasota business leader who embodies the personal and business values demonstrated by Nixon, who was chairman of Sun Hydraulics. The award was established in 2007, when Nixon was awarded posthumously.
Art was clearly surprised as he began to recognize Carlson’s description of the “award recipient” just before announcing Art’s name. Art rose from the table, surrounded by long-time LexJet and S-One employees. As he approached the stage, Pharrell’s song “Happy” filled the Hyatt Regency Sarasota ballroom.
“This is probably the best-kept secret ever,” Art said. “I can’t tell you how honored I am to get this, and I share it with my partner Ron Simkins. It’s been a great experience for the last 22 years here in Sarasota, and we’re very thankful to the EDC for supporting us over the years.”
