Our People Our Strength

At the heart of S-One’s success over the past 30 years is its people. The company’s dedication to fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and mutual respect has created an environment where team members thrive. By focusing on its team-centric philosophy, S-One has built a foundation of trust, growth, and loyalty that continues to propel the company forward.

A company’s success hinges on its organizational culture, with team members’ well-being and engagement being key factors. With a significant portion of the global workforce working remotely, companies must consider how to foster a culture of connection and engagement. This begins with investing in people, the vital core of any successful organization.

S-One has prioritized the “human element” of the business, understanding that productivity and efficiency thrive when team members feel engaged, motivated, and connected to their colleagues.

To further strengthen our culture, we launched several initiatives aimed at team member engagement and recognition. In 2024, the E3 team introduced SCOOP: The Recognition Dashboard, a peer-to-peer platform where team members can celebrate each other’s contributions. This platform includes unique awards such as the 5 Star Award for exceptional service and collaboration, and the Crushing it! Award for outstanding teamwork.

During Employee Appreciation Week, SCOOP was filled with messages of gratitude and peer recognition. The platform helps us stay connected, even when team members are geographically distant. It allows everyone to share openly about their experiences and the positive impact of their colleagues’ support and kindness.

Team Evolution and Adapting to Change

The teams at S-One have evolved significantly, embracing new technologies and methodologies to stay competitive and inventive. We’ve fostered a culture of adaptability where change is seen as an opportunity rather than a challenge.

As the company expanded globally, teams like Gina Mascio’s Finance and Accounting division had to adapt quickly. “When we became a global company, we had to ensure credit insurance for international customers and manage those programs,” she explains. “Our U.S. tax team didn’t have to learn sales tax and keep up with new regulations, as well as Value-Added Tax (VAT) reporting in foreign countries.”

Similarly, Theresa Mateo highlights how her team has navigated these changes. “At the beginning, our work was manual—there was no internet. My team never had sales tax experience, but they’ve learned through leaps and bounds.”

Team Reflections on S-One’s Growth and Success

Many team members have shared their unique perspectives on how S-One’s culture has impacted their professional growth.

Janelle Piersoll reflects, “I’ve had the opportunity to learn different areas of the business outside of IT, like accounting, sales, and supply chain. This experience empowered my abilities as a leader.”

Sean McGettigan emphasizes the importance of change: “We’re always evolving and trying to get better in everything we do. It’s our culture to adapt. That’s a strength of our team.”

Rick Nerenhausen credits the company’s leadership for nurturing his growth. “S-One has always been a company that promotes and harnesses a person’s strengths, passions, and work ethic and puts them in positions to succeed.”

Looking Ahead: Building on a Strong Foundation

As S-One looks toward the future, its commitment to its people will remain at the forefront. By continuing to invest in personal and professional development, fostering a culture of creativity, and empowering its team members, S-One is poised to achieve even greater success in the coming decades.
